The Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital is a public institution found in Yaounde.
Endoscopic surgeries equipment, in-vitro fertilisation puncture, painless childbirth epidural, plastic breast surgery and reconstruction apparatus and many other gynaecological and obstetric tools are some of the equipment available at the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital abbreviated CHRACERH. The existence of the hospital is a dream come true for childless couples who now have the opportunity to conceive a child with the help of medical science thanks to the creation of CHRACERH, located next to the Yaounde General Hospital at the Ngousso neighbourhood. Qualified as a nationwide and worldwide research and health care public institution in Cameroon, the hospital centre which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health, covers a surface area of 7300 m2 with a three storey building and two basements which contain material that enable the institution to implement research activities in the fields of endoscopy and human reproduction, as well as providing high quality health care in the various gynaecological and obstetric domains.
With an administrative unit and a two storey hospitalisation building that contains 60 beds among which are 30 for general gynaecological and 30 for obstetrics operations, pregnant women can now carry out outpatient consultation at the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital in Yaounde. The hospital also has a sector for childbirth, six labour and delivery rooms, one neonatology unit, six operating rooms distributed as such; one as caesarean unit, four for gynaecological surgery, one operating room for in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). The hospital also has an IVF puncture and embryo transfer. The centre also has a family planning and IEC room, one outpatient hysteroscopy room, one recovery and intensive care room as well as a reception and emergency unit.
In a bid to effectively provide human reproductive services, the centre can also boast of prenatal diagnosis laboratories which include one intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) room, three pelvis ultrasound rooms and a group of laboratories to this effect. In this light, the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital has a clinical biology laboratory, one sperm and endocrinology laboratory, one pathology and prenatal diagnosis, a blood bank and bacteriology laboratory. In the treatment of gynaecological cancer, CHRACERH is equipped with a mammography and hysterosalpingography room, one colposcopy room, a computer and closed-circuit television unit, a reprography room and a communication and audiovisual room with video editing benches.
It is important to note that besides medical care to women and couples in need, the hospital will also provide theoretical and practical training in gynaecological and human reproduction. As such, the teaching hospital also disposes of a training unit, an amphitheatre with 300 seats for teaching and telemedicine with a satellite antenna, a training room for endoscopic surgery on simulators (pelvis trainer, robots and animal model). This will permit the centre to provide three university degrees with different accreditations after training. Besides human reproductive equipment, the centre provides technical services, a washroom and restaurant, a chaplaincy, two libraries and a fitness centre with sauna and physiotherapy.
